Membership Benefits are:
- * Satisfaction of knowing you are supporting a local non-profit educational organization that teaches Sparta kids and adults about our rich history from bicycles of the past, airplanes both old and new, and love of space from our own Deke Slayton – part if the Mercury 7 team and for many years the man in charge of Mission Control.
- * Membership Card for FREE admission to the Museum. Come as often as you like. It takes a long time to see and read all that the Deke Slayton Museum has to offer about early bicycles, the clothes the would wear, all the way to the actual Space Suit that Deke Slayton wore into Outer Space. This simple little membership card will send shivers down your spine every time you see it. In your mind it is a ticket to the MOON!
- * Quarterly “Rockets & Sprockets” newsletter. Here you will get pictures of new exhibits and their stories along with dates and times of lot’s of fun activities for young and old alike.
- * Voting privileges in Museum elections. You have a voice in how the museum is run, who runs the Deke Slayton Museum and what gets displayed – anyone want to see a velocipede?
- * 10% discount on Gift Shop purchases of $10 or more. The Gift Shop is always getting fun, new stuff in.
- * TWITTER. Follow us on Twitter @slaytonmuseum (the top of every page – left of the search box- has a button to press to follow us on Twitter! Every week we give something away. Really – every Tuesday is Twitter Tuesday. Show your phone to Mary (the wonderful & beautiful woman who works at the front desk) to prove that you follow us and you will get in for free! If you are with your family they get in for free too! Recently a guy told a story about his dad giving Deke Slayton a ride on his Indian Motorcycle from Deke’s job (unloading trucks at Montgomery Wards to his house in the 7 corners area in the Twin Cities in Minnesota!

Membership Dues & Donations pay:
General Operating Expenses
Insurance, Office Supplies, Janitorial Supplies, Employee Salaries, Telephone, Internet, Computer and Multimedia Advertising come from dues & donations. Money is also used to expand Exhibits & Collections and to support various Free Events the Museum provides to the public. Your Dues and Donations make this museum possible! We would not be able to continue without it!
Personal Projects – Space or Bicycle – Moon or Stars!
Donations can go to a specific project of your choosing.
Click on the Donate button to donate with your Credit Card or PayPal account. At the end of the process you will have a chance to tell us what you want the donation to be used for – a General Donation, or donate to a specific Bicycle or Deke Slayton project. It could be about NASA, the Moon or Mercury 7. It could be about an early airplane or even the space shuttle! There are many ways to help. My grandson is donating a moon rocket made from tinfoil! Thank you very much for your donation! Remember – NO donation is too small…..
