Meals, Dessert/Breakfast Pastries/Beverages the museum staff will help you make arrangements whether you eat at museum or if you want other suggestions within the area. All food to the museum is catered. The staff will be happy to help.
The Deke Slayton Memorial Space & Bicycle Museum is located near downtown Sparta, Wisconsin, on the corner of North Court and West Main Streets.
Sparta is located off of Interstate-90 in southwest Wisconsin, and we are less than a 30-minute drive to the east from LaCrosse and the beautiful Mississippi River.
We are within easy walking distance from Sparta’s downtown shopping area, including antique stores, restaurants, municipal parking, bike trails, historical building, bridges and parks.
The Museum is not handicap accessible at this time. However, programming for disabled visitors is available on the 1st floor of the Museum Complex Local History Room & Museum. Rest Rooms available on the lst Floor.
Directions…
From the Interstate, take Hwy 27 north into Sparta. Turn east onto Hwy 16 and north onto Court Street (watch for brown & white “museum” signs). The Monroe County Museum Complex is on the northwest corner of N. Court & W. Main Streets – one block north of the Monroe County Courthouse.
